What happens during my session?
There will be a time before the treatment starts to visit and fill out any forms that are needed. We use the discussion to come up with an intention for your treatment. Intention is the powerful catalyst behind the healing. I then open to my intuition and guidance for your session, so I may ask you to maybe pull an angel card, or pick a stone to hold during the session, or choose a scent for aromatherapy - all with your permission. Then I have you lay on a massage type table and we go over your intention and I begin my work as you relax. You are able to ask as many or as little questions as you like. I usually play soft music, but am open to silence as well. I use Reiki, IET and/or Qigong as I am called. Each session is unique, as are YOU!
So, what really happens during my session?
A lot of that is up to you. If you understand that healing is a gift from our Creator that we are all born with and never lose; if you understand that we are complete beings made up of a body, mind and spirit; then you can also understand that true healing happens when we allow ourselves to connect with that Inner Healer. YOU heal yourself. My job is to help you remember how. By relaxing and breathing on my table, hopefully feeling safe and open - I use all the tools in my bag as I am guided to help you, help yourself. Most folks in today's world forget, and disengage from the sacred parts of themselves and look to outward sources for their answers. If, just for a moment, you feel that peace of knowing, healing can happen. Healing comes on many levels: physical, spiritual, mental and emotional. This subtle, intelligent energy can be directed to the level of healing that will be the most beneficial to the path you're on. Sometimes that direction can surprise you, but that's part of the fun of being open to Divine Order. Be open to the everyday miracles.
What will it feel like?
That can vary greatly from nothing to something quite dramatic. Folks can report feeling warmth, coolness, tingles, itches, little nudges of pain, pressure, absence of pain, seeing colors, elation, unexpected emotions, getting chilly, spontaneous twiches or movements, relaxation, peace. My suggestion is be open to whatever happens. Breathe. All of these can be considered a positive sign that the energy is working within you. If something becomes too bothersome, just tell me. I can change what I'm doing or we can dialogue to see if the sensation is trying to tell you something.
How will I feel after my session?
Most people feel very relaxed, others feel tired, energized, or emotional as part of their healing process. Some may experience a headache, or flu-like symptoms, all of which are short duration and should be seen as POSITIVE SIGN that unbalanced energy is being readjusted and the healing process has begun. Drink lots of water, that's good advice any day, but especially after getting energy work done. If you feel like a nap, take one. If you feel like a walk, take one. You get to decide how long you want to stay in that peaceful, connected state a session can bring, so listen to what your body and spirit call for. You will know when to come back for another session, or we can discuss a plan for you.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki works on all levels improving and maintaining mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It has been found effective in
At the time when treatment moves from curative to palliative, Reiki's gentleness can be a comforting balm to both the patient and their family. Since Reiki works on more that just the physical level, and when the body temple is deteriorating, the deeper aspects of healing the emotional, mental and spiritual self as one prepares to depart the physical world become even more important. Reiki can help center and soothe the patient and the family as they deal with the myriad of personal and practical issues that arise at this time of transition.
What if I want Reiki for myself - to learn it?
AWESOME! I applaud your willingness to bring this life-changing energy into your life, full time. There are many classes throughout the area and I teach it as well. Reiki energy is available to all, but the System of Reiki is something that can be taught. Traditionally it is taught in three levels. I've got a little analogy that I hope can help explain:
Reiki is its own unique frequency – it’s always there and everyone has access to it, but you need to be exposed to it….
Let’s say we’re riding in your car and you have your radio on KQRS, you know there are other radio stations out there, but you never bother to turn your dial because KQ is working for you. I politely ask if I can change the station to WLTE while we drive and you agree. We listen together and you decide you like it (level 1 class). I program it in your radio buttons (attunement) and now you have access to KQ and WLTE whenever you want. You find WLTE calms you and makes you feel good, so you tune in more often. A while later, we are driving in your car again and I find your station on WLTE – I mention that WLTE has a website and there is so much more to learn about the music there (level 2 symbols). I take you to the website when we get to a computer and you bookmark it (second attunement). You love visiting and go there often and really poke around and learn all they have to offer, it really has become a part of your life; and when you tell me that, I ask if you want to teach others about WLTE. You get excited about sharing what you love and I show you how (master/teaching level).
Locally, KQRS is one of our rock stations and WLTE is one of our easy listening stations. This is a hugely broad description of the process and I make no judgments as to music preferences. Reiki has ‘rocked’ my world – so the descriptions could have easily been swapped. :)
Once attuned to Reiki, it's yours forever. Reiki is only limited by your imagination. It can used to help situations, jobs, world events, friends, family and your own spiritual journey.
What About IET? What is that?
An Integrated Energy Therapy session looks a lot like a Reiki session. You relax on the table and I call in specific angels for specific things. They work with me and through me and there are times I integrate them naturally into any session, or one can ask for a specific IET session, or I may be 'directed' to offer that type of session to some. The time frames are the same. Any session can bring out emotions in someone, but the tendency in IET is a much more gentle approach; things can be released without conscious recall of a traumatic event, it just leaves with the angels.
I've incorporated the teachings of Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) into my life. I've taken a number of classes and learned how to help myself and how to help others (My classes were held here: Gentle Qigong.) I am guided more and more to use qigong methods during a session (similar to using Reiki and IET as guided). I find qigong a beautiful way to balance one's energy. I am open to sharing the active exercises one learns in Level 1 SFQ that I do myself to balance my own energy on a regular basis. There are practice groups I attend around the area for doing the exercises in a group setting and am more than willing to share that information as well. I am loving the SFQ philosophy, 'A healer in every family, and a world without pain.'
